Secedit The Secedit component provides a command line tool that can be used to drive the operations supported by the Security Configuration Engine (SCE). Such operations include:
  • Importing\Exporting security templates into\out of a configuration database
  • Configuring System Security with the contents of the database
  • Performing a security analysis based on the contents of the database

There are no configuration requirements for this component.

Special Notes

The secedit component is intended to be used to schedule security configuration tasks or to perform them via script. If secedit is not available, these operation can only be performed via the Security Configuration and Analysis snap-in.

You must also include the SCE core engine component in your configuration. All security operations require security engine to operate on a security template or security database.
