Windows Update Shortcut The Windows Update Shortcut component consists of an executable that is used for integration in the shell of the operating system (OS). This component can be used to ensure a Windows Update shortcut is added to the Start menu as well as the Control Panel. The shortcut opens the Windows Update Web site in Internet Explorer or the Help and Support Center, depending on whether the Internet connection on the user’s computer has been configured.
