<TITLE>Index Server Search Form</TITLE>
<!--
Specify various properties of this HTML page, so that they can be queried. The
properties are:
Description: abstract of this page
Author: author
Keywords: keywords
Subject: subject
Ms.category: category
Ms.locale: locale or language of this HTML page (US English)
Content-type: charset identifier of this HTML page (1252)
If a description meta tag is present in an HTML page, then it is used as the abstract or summary
of the HTML page. If a description tag is not present then the Index Server will automatically
generate an abstract using the text in the title tag, heading tags and so on. To query for a meta
tag property, the property must be specified in the idq file. The GUID for the meta property
is D1B5D3F0-C0B3-11CF-9A92-00A0C908DBF1 and the property name is specified by the name field. In
the case of the description property the name is "description. Hence to query for the description
property, add the following to the Names section of the idq file
[Names]
MetaDescription(DBTYPE_WSTR) = D1B5D3F0-C0B3-11CF-9A92-00A0C908DBF1 description
Then the query
@MetaDescription Microsoft Index Server
will return this page in the result set. The GUID for meta property is a registry parameter
located at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
\System\CurrentControlSet
\Control\HtmlFilter
\MetaTagClsid
Author, Keywords and Subject properties in a meta tag are treated differently. These properties
have the friendly names DocAuthor, DocKeywords and DocSubject respectively, and they
correspond to the Author, Keywords and Subject properties of the Microsoft Summary Information
property set. Hence, the query
@DocAuthor Index Server Team
will return this page in the result set.
The MS.CATEGORY property is also treated differently. The MS.CATEGORY property is mapped to
the category property in the Microsoft Document Summary Information property set. The GUID
for the Document Summary Information property set is d5cdd502-2e9c-101b-9397-08002b2cf9ae,
and the property id for category in that property set is 2. So, to query for the MS.CATEGORY
property, add the following to the Names section of the idq file
[Names]
DocCategory(DBTYPE_WSTR) = d5cdd502-2e9c-101b-9397-08002b2cf9ae 2
Then the query
@DocCategory Internet
will return this page in the result set.
The MS.LOCALE property specifies the locale or language of this page. The locale property
allows the Index Server to use the appropriate locale specific resources when processing the
HTML page. It is very useful to specify the locale property when the HTML pages being indexed are in
different locales. If all the HTML pages being indexed are in the same locale and it's
the same as the locale of the server computer on which Index Server is running, then the
MS.LOCALE property can be omitted without any loss of fidelity. The MS.LOCALE property can also be
queried just like any other generic meta tag property. To query for the MS.LOCALE property, add the
following to the Names section of the idq file
[Names]
Locale(DBTYPE_WSTR) = D1B5D3F0-C0B3-11CF-9A92-00A0C908DBF1 ms.locale
Then the query
@Locale US
will return this page in the result set.
The charset meta tag specifies the character set of the HTML page. This information
is used by the Index Server when converting the text in the HTML page to Unicode. The following
charset IDs are recognized:
Base_Charset (Display Name): Charset IDs
